AFTERCARE

BROWS

On the day of your procedure - Clean the brows with a cotton pad dipped in warm soapy water every 2-3 hours and allow to air dry. This will help remove any excess fluid build up which leads to scabbing.

DO NOT SCRUB THE AREA & ENSURE YOU SQUEEZE ANY EXCESS WATER FROM THE COTTON PAD BEFORE CLEANING

After each clean and air dry you can apply a tiny amount of the balm you have been provided with. When heated up this turns into a oil, so less is more

Day 2-7 - Clean the brows with a cotton pad dipped in warm soapy water morning and night only, continue using the balm after each wash and air dry.

LIPS

On the day of procedure - Clean the lips with a cotton pad dipped in warm soapy water every 3 hours. This will remove any excess fluid build up which leads to scabbing.

DO NOT SCRUB THE AREA & ENSURE YOU SQUEEZE ANY EXCESS WATER FROM THE COTTON PAD BEFORE CLEANING

Keep the lips hydrated for the next 7 days by applying a small amount of the balm provided - do not over apply or layer up the balm.

Day 2-7 - Clean your lips morning and night as above and continue to use the balm provided. When heated up this turns into a oil, so less is more.

Avoid spicy and citrus foods until healed.

If you suffer from cold sores, past or present, applying Zovirax as recommended on the tube for no more than 4 days can help prevent a flare up - this is not guaranteed.

Kissing and Oral sex should not be performed whilst your lips are healing, along with straws and spicy or salty foods.

AREOLA

On the day of procedure - If I have applied a 2nd skin covering to the new tattoo, please leave this alone for the next 3 days (if peeling occurs you can remove the covering and start at day 4 below)

Day 4- Remove the 2nd skin covering while in the shower to help peel it away without dry tugging.

Wash over the tattoo with warm soapy water to remove any plasma build up. Pat dry and apply the balm you have been provided with.

Continue cleaning twice daily and use the balm provided until you are fully healed.

To avoid friction on bras or clothing those not wearing a 2nd skin dressing may use cling film over the area for the first 2 days, please ensure this is a new and clean roll and the tattoo is washed over and balmed every 3-4 hours to remove any plasma build up, sweating or infection occurring.

SCALP TATTOOING

Days 1-4 you must keep the area dry, no shampooing or getting the area wet under any circumstances. You should avoid touching the area or moving your hair around. Those with long hair may use a silk scrunchy to tie it back while healing and for bed times but you must ensure it is loose at the Scalp to avoid traction. Men may want to sleep in a silk bonnet or cotton hat.

At day 4 you may lightly shampoo and condition your hair with cool water. This must be done gently and you should only use your finger tips and no nails to clean (over washing or cleaning will result in a poor heal) Hair drying must be set to a cool setting and kept at a distance.

You may wish to moisturize your Scalp to avoid flaking - please only use the cream provided to you.

Bedding should be clean and free from any scent sprays.

Do not use any prescribed treatments on the area for 2 weeks.

Do not colour your hair for upto 4 weeks, you may shave after 3 weeks but ensure you're clear of any scabs or flaking and are gentle with the blades.

Avoid - sun, sun beds, swimming, saunas and steam rooms.

DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH

HD BROWS & LAMINATION

For the next 48 hours you must avoid prolong contact with water, direct sunlight, the use of sunbeds, saunas, jacuzzies, steam-rooms, swimming pool, the use of make up, facial cleansers, exfoliants, anti-aging products and fake tan on the area (this includes showers and baths)

Do not tweeze until your next appointment.

Brows will be bolder and more defined immediately after your treatment, this will fade and is not permanent.

Please keep your brows dry for 24 hours.

Avoid the urge to over touch the brows after the treatment.

To keep your brows conditioned and in place until your next treatment you will be provided with brow oil.

INFORMATION

Ensure your hands are clean before starting the aftercare cleaning process.

Days 1-7, the colour will look darker than expected for all treatments, this will fade as the skin heals. Do not panic if the area looks patchy or lighter in areas while healing.

Itching and irritation is normal. Do not scratch or pick the area.

Keep the area dry until healed to allow the pigment to settle. This means avoid putting the treated area directly under the shower head, under bath water or swimming/hot tubs until fully healed.

Avoid any form of exercise for one week. For the following two weeks, you should also avoid excessive heat, saunas, swimming, direct sunlight, sunbeds, salt water, direct shower spray or a jacuzzi.

Do not apply make up/lip stick/balms/gloss, skin creams or ointments to the area treated for 2 weeks, other than what is recommended by Kerry.

At around 5-10 days the protective layer of skin will start to shed away and you may notice the colour being quite light or patchy. It will take around 6 weeks for this milky protective layer of skin to shed away and reveal healthy layer of skin with the true pigment visible on the surface.

To avoid pigment fade and colour change, we strongly recommend that you apply a broad spectrum SPF to your skin daily once you're fully healed.

I recommended that you have a maintenance procedure on your brows such as a shape and tint every couple of months to keep them looking their best at all times.

Do not sunbath or use a sun bed while healing or without a SPF once healed.

Lips - to allow the pigment to settle for the next 7 days avoid licking the area, kissing others, oral sex or do excessive stretching of the area - this includes using straws.

Do not put your newly treated area under the shower head or bath water.

Flaking is natural, scabbing or cracking is not.

Failure to follow the correct aftercare path will result in colour loss, colour change, damage, skin scaring or possible infection. Once you leave PMU by Kerry Benson your new permanent make up or tattoo becomes your sole responsibility. Any further treatments not included in the original agreed price will be charged for accordingly.

If the colour of your PMU has faded significantly and you may think the treatment didn’t work please don’t panic and contact me just yet - this is a completely normal process and the true colour will re-emerge and take its final shade within 6 weeks of healing. Please give it time to settle, we can fine tune at your top up appointment.

If you notice any unusual symptoms or extreme irritation throughout your healing process please contact myself for advice. If you believe you’re having an allergic reaction seek medical advice immediately.
